Our Lady Queen of Peace has announced the upcoming Mass schedule for All Saints, a Holy Day of Obligation, for 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31 and at 8 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, All Souls' Day (Memorial Mass). On Saturday, Nov. 2, Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m.
Effort United Methodist Church Pre-School will host a Halloween parade and party Thursday.
The West End Rotary Club will welcome Rotary District Governor Irene Carey at its breakfast meeting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
The West End Fire Company will host a Trunk or Treat at the firehouse in Brodheadsville, from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. The volunteers feel this is the safest way to Trick or Treat and are holding the event to say thank you to the community for its support.
Trick or Treat
Trick or Treat in the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville, will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Groups, businesses and families are invited to join the festivities. There will be a Costume Contest and prizes for Most Original Displays.

World Community Day
Church Women United of Monroe County is holding a World Community Day service at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Church, Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be served after the service. For more information call Betty at 570-629-0649.

Members of the Western Pocono Lioness Club will be going to the District 14U Lioness Rally at Cherry's in Kresgeville, at 9:30 a.m., Nov. 2. District 14U's Lioness liaison Marie Barth has arranged for the program to be about the district governor's projects of Sight Conservation, NEPA EYE Bank, hearing conservation, etc. Speakers will be 1st Vice District Sharon Kimmel and Immediate Past District Governor Angie Mims.

The flying fingers of Effort Methodist church will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to make prayer shawls.
Pleasant Valley High School's Leo Club will install over 70 members at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The event is a covered dish affair, with parents included.
Peace Poster competition
Lions Clubs International sponsors a Peace Poster Contest around the world each year. Judging on the local entry level will be done at the Western Pocono Lions Club's Board of Directors meeting on Nov. 6.
The local school winner will be submitted to the district governor and all entries from the district will compete for district honors. Winner of that competition will vie for top honors on the state level.
One in a Million
A play by the PVMS Drama Club will take place at Pleasant Valley Middle School at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Pleasant Valley Middle School as a dress rehearsal to which Senior Citizens are invited. Wawa in Brodheadsville is the site for a blood drive from 1-6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14. To schedule an appointment, call 800-RED-CROSS.
Boy Scout Troop 98 is conducting a clothing drive collection from noon until 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17. A truck and table will be set up next to the main entrance of Brodheadsville Self Storage, located at the end of Jena Drive, directly across from Pleasant Valley High School on Route 115.
The drive will help to defray the cost of taking 13 Scouts on a high adventure trek to Maine next summer.
