Carbon approves personnel actions

Carbon County commissioners on Thursday approved a number of personnel actions.

Employment separation: Joshua R. Grim, Tamaqua, a part-time corrections officer, effective March 28.Resignations: Jamie M. Blisard, Albrightsville, 911 operator, communications center, effective April 26; Ross M. Greenzwieg, Palmerton, part-time correctional officer, effective April 20; Shea Kelchner, Slatington, corrections officer, effective April 23; and Michael J. Martino, Summit Hill, corrections officer, effective April 1.Change of status: Christian G. Castro, Allentown, from part-time corrections officer/Teamsters, to corrections officer; effective April 29; Barbara J. Houser, Tamaqua, from part-time corrections officer to part-time corrections officer/Teamsters, effective April 29; Margaret A. Nunnemacher, Tamaqua, from part-time corrections officer to part-time corrections officer/Teamsters, effective April 29.Appointment: Patricia A. Rossman, Summit Hill, as clerical specialist, effective April 22.Seminars/training requests: Area Agency on Aging Cheri M. Santore, AAA Financial Training, State College, at a cost of a conference fee of $100, plus lodging, mileage and meals; Corrections Timothy Fritz, Mary Fairchild, CLEAN Portal Training, Allentown, at a cost of mileage; Jesus Morales, State Academy Training at Lehigh County Prison, Allentown, at a cost of mileage; Human Resources Dawn Bowman, PCHIPC Quarterly Meeting of the Cooperative, State College, at a cost of mileage; Human Services Glenn Schoch, AAA Financial training, State College, at a cost of a conference fee of $100, plus lodging, meals and mileage; Court Seminar Training acknowledgment Juvenile Court, James Dodson and Ronald Kokinda, CLEAN Portal Training, Allentown, at a cost of mileage and meals.Commissioners also received good news about the county's retirement fund is healthy.The county's retirement portfolio value as of March 31 was at $66,797,950, "an all-time high for Carbon County," said county Controller Bob Crampsie."It took about two years to get there," he said. We're off to a great start in 2013.The last all-time high was on April 30, 2011, Crampsie said. Then, the value was at $66,781,000."We're doing pretty well, and we hope that things will continue," he said.
