Jim Thorpe police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests.

Police reported an arrest that occurred on June 19, 2012, about 9:41 p.m. On that date and at that time officers responded to an accident along Flagstaff Road. On scene they encountered James Patrick Lacey, 42, of 154 W. Ridge St., Lansford, walking towards them.

He told officers he was the driver of a crashed vehicle at the scene. Lacey told officers he had walked to a friend's home along W. Broadway to get help to flip his car back onto its wheels. He admitted he had been speeding when he lost control. He said the car flipped six or seven times.

Lacey showed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. He was taken to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test, which revealed a .11BAC. He was charged with two counts of DUI, and one count each of careless driving, and failure to notify police of an accident or damage to a vehicle.

The second arrest occurred on Jan. 28 about 12:14 a.m. Police stopped Patrick C. McAvoy, 25, of 103 E. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, for a traffic violation along state routes 903 and 209.

He displayed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. He was transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test, which showed a combination of drugs and alcohol.

He was charged with two counts of DUI and one of obedience to traffic control devices.
