Two facing DUI counts

Two drivers are facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges following incidents in Nesquehoning.

On March 31, at about 4:01 p.m., Officer Thomas Kurtz was dispatched to the 3 Points gas staion for an intoxicated male. On scene the suspect was identified as John R. Heine, 47, of 72 Center Rd., Lehighton. He was found to be under the influence and admitted to police he had driven to the station in his van.Heine failed field sobriety tests and was then transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for a blood test. The test result was .26BAC.Heine was charged with counts of DUI.On May 12 about 11:18 p.m. Officer Carl Breiner was called by Officer Timothy Wuttke to responded to E. Catawissa St. Wuttke was transporting a prisoner and was behind a vehicle being driven in a careless manner.Wuttke stopped the vehicle just prior to the arrival of Breiner. The driver was identified as Richard L. Bower Jr., 25, of 350 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning.Bower was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken to a local hospital for a blood test. The test result was .15BAC.Bower has been charged with two counts of DUI and two motor vehicle code violations of careless driving and driving on roadways laned for traffic.
