OLOAA highlights service

One of the activities the students from OLOAA participated in during the recent Catholic Schools Week is the 50 Lanterns project. The students dressed in red, white, and blue and donated money to purchase solar lanterns so other children will have the gift of light. Fifty Lanterns International is a nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minn. It was founded to help improve lives in communities torn by poverty, war, or disaster through gifts of solar-powered lanterns and energy systems. Each solar light costs $50. Holding the lanterns are, first row, from left, Riley McArdle, Andre Velez, Ava Kosciolek, and Gavin Tischler. Second row: Brayden Webb, Rachel Chuma, Thaddeus Karnish, and Samantha McCarthy. Third row: Sister Regina Elinich, IHM (principal); and Mrs. Sarah Boyle, first grade teacher.
