Mahoning welcomes new supervisor

The Mahoning Township supervisors welcomed their newest member, resident Todd Weaver, who was appointed on a 4-0 vote during a special meeting on July 17.

The vacancy was created when former supervisor Travis Steigerwalt resigned in early June at the conclusion of a supervisors meeting.Weaver will serve the remaining year-plus term until the November 2013 election, but has not indicated whether he will be running next year for election."Frank (Ruch) brought the vacancy to my attention and I live near Packerton Yards," said Weaver. "I felt if I was going to voice my opinion about such matters and have an opportunity to be involved in my community, I should take it, as I don't feel it is fair to comment on things if you are not willing to do the work."Weaver is a first time public official so the experience is entirely new to him. He says he looks forward to serving and learning how the township functions. When asked if he was going to seek to be elected next year, Weaver said he was not sure yet."I need to take some time and see what is going on before I decide. I am here to help the township and am looking forward to serving the people of our community."
