A domestic dispute in Tamaqua on Friday landed one man in the Schuylkill County Prison.

Police were dispatched to 120 Center St., at 10:35 a.m. to deal with a reported domestic incident in progress. The dispatcher noted there was a knife possibly involved.

On scene officers spoke with Irma Martinez, who told them that Mario Ruano, 42, had threatened her, holding a knife against her throat and saying "If you open your mouth, I am going to kill you." He also threatened "You better do the right thing or you will be dead before the police get here and I will be gone." He also allegedly struck her in the back of the head with a closed fist.

Ruano was charged with aggravated and simple assault, making terroristic threats, and harassment. He was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, who set bail at $100,000 straight cash bond.

Unable to post bail the defendant was transported to the county prison in Pottsville.
