Relay for Life

At 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, a meeting will be held at the Palmerton High School for Relay for Life of Palmerton and Surrounding Communities 2011. The snow date is Feb. 21.

Newspaper drive

Due to bad weather the monthly newspaper drive by St. John's Lutheran Church has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12, beginning at 8 a.m. The garage across from the church is always open for anyone wishing to take papers there.

Historical society

At 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 14, the Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at the Palmerton Area Library. Rodger Danielson, borough manager, will present a program "There's Oil in Them Thar Hills: Pennsylvania's Other Energy".

Library board

At 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, the library board of trustees meeting will be held at the Palmerton Area Library. For more information, call the library at (610) 826-3424.

Quilting Saturday

From 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 12, the quilters will meet at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Anyone interested in helping to assemble the quilts is invited to attend.

If you have any old fabric and/or bed sheets you don't want, you may drop them off at the church.

Palmerton Area Historical Society

The Monday, Feb. 14 meeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will feature a talk by borough nanager Rodger Danielson on the oil industry in western Pennsylvania.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Palmerton Library's second-floor Gallery, and the public is invited to attend, without cost or obligation.

The Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave. (former location of Tommie's) is now featuring an exhibit of antique quilts. Admission is free.
