Jim Thorpe's Ryan Ruberto turned in his team's best showing during the Christmas Wrestling Tournament hosted by the Olympians on Wednesday.

Whitehall took home the Jim Thorpe Christmas Wrestling Tournament championship Wednesday afternoon. The host Olympians ended the day tied for seventh.

Jim Thorpe's best showing came from Ryan Ruberto in the heavyweight division. He finished second to Whitehall's Brian Fang.

Fellow Olympians Brian Ohl (126) and Mike Munoz (170) picked up third place finishes, while Avery Zigenfus (132) and Akeeno Stewart (160) came in fourth.

James Farano scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the first half, but the Indians had to go to overtime to pull out a 66-63 winover te Blue Bombers for their first win of the season.

After being down by as much as 11 in the first half, the Bombers came back to take a five-point lead in the fourth quarter before both teams ended regulation tied at 55-55 when Brett Snyder hit a three as time was running out to tie it.

The Indians outscored the Bombers by three in OT to win it.

Alex Guyn backed up Farano with 10 points. Tyler Svetik had 20 points for the Blue Bombers, while Matt leaver added 16 and Brett Snyder 10.

Lloyd Irons' 31-point performance was enough of an offensive spark to lift Salisbury to a 65-45 non-conference victory over Tamaqua.

The Falcons' Tyler Brown chipped in with a double-digit 15 points.

The Blue Raiders' Brett Kosciolek drained three treys and was the lone Blue Raider to hit double figures with 15 points.

In the JV game, Salisbury came out on top with a 62-40 win. Zach Wargula finished with 13 points for the Blue Raiders.
