State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes probed by troopers along Carbon County roadways occurring over the past weekend.

A hit and run accident was reported about 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, along Boyer Farm Road, near Forest Inn Road, in Lower Towamensing Township. Troopers said George A. Stockmal, 69, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2010 Nissan Murano eastbound when he stopped to pull into a driveway. His vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle. After impact the driver fled the scene towards Forest Inn Road.

Stockmal was unable to supply troopers with any information concerning the hit and run vehicle. Stockmal was not injured.

A two vehicle crash occurred about 10:49 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, along Forest Inn Road at the intersection with Stagecoach Road, in Towamensing Township. Troopers said Sarah A. Bellis, 27, of Palmerton, was stopped at the intersection while Neal T. Gower, 46, of Albrightsville, was northbound on Forest Inn Road. Troopers said Bellis proceeded to enter the intersection and pulled into the path of Gower. Gower attempted to avoid a collision but could not do so. His 2003 Ford Explorer hit the front bumper of Bellis' 1994 Honda Accord. After impact Gower lost control and his vehicle struck an embankment, street sign and tree.

Gower was injured and taken to the Palmerton Hospital by Palmerton ambulance. Bellis and her seven-year-old male passsenger were not injured. The Ford was towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Bellis for a stop sign violation.
