Panther Valley's victory to clinch a District 11 volleyball playoff berth highlighted Tuesday scholastic sports action.

Panther Valley clinched a berth in the District 11 Class AA Volleyball Tournament with a 25-23, 25-20, 25-9 Schuylkill League sweep of Upper Dauphin.
The Panthers improved to 8-7 overall and 6-6 in league play with just one regular season match remaining.
The district-clinching win came on Senior Night and featured outstanding balance up and down the lineup as 10 different Panthers made solid contributions.
Celine Yelito led the way with 13 assists, seven service points and three aces. Also playing well were Steph Kachelries (11 service points); Deanna Focht (six kills); Ellen Krajcir (six digs, one kill); Chrissy Micholik (eight kills); Sarah Branchide (10 service points, two kills); Amy Yusella (eight kills); Lyndsay Kusko (eight service points, nine digs, two aces); Lauren Frantz ((three kills, two aces); Jacinda Ruzicka (10 service points, two aces).
Panther Valley won the JV match, 2-1.

Pleasant Valley remained undefeated in the Mountain Valley Conference play with a, 25-18, 25-12,25-14 victory over Pocono Mountain East.
The Bears celebrated Senior Night by letting all their seniors play in the first game.
For the match, Kayla Dorny led the way with seven kills, four digs and three blocks. The Bears (11-0 in the MVC) also got strong performances from Brittni Cumberland (17 assists, five digs, four kills); Crystal Cambria (three kills, two aces, two blocks); Paige McKinsey(12-for-12 from the service line); Steph Stone (six assists, two kills); Tamika Lee (two kills); Emily Shafer (two kills); MacKenzie Dorney (eight digs) and Breanna Joseph (four kills).
Nativity swept Weatherly, 25-15, 25-13, 25-19 in Schuylkill League play.
The Wreckers (13-5, 6-5) were led by Brittney Hinkle with five kills, five blocks and five digs. Also contributing for Weatherly were Sarah Dolinsky (eight digs, three blocks); Rachel Heister (six assists, four digs); Alyssa Kephart (nine digs, eight blocks); Alicia Panzarella (seven digs); and Samantha Strizak (five digs).
Nativity won the JV match, 25-4, 25-22.
Jim Thorpe dropped a Schuylkill League match to Pottsville, 25-17, 20-25, 25-15, 25-16.
Amanda Petrin had a strong defensive performance for the Olympians with 15 digs. Brittany Holland led the attack with nine kills and Lauren Mason added five aces.
Pottsville won the JV match, 25-20, 25-15.
Lehighton swept Pocono Mountain West, 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 in a Mountain Valley Conference match.
No Lehighton statistics from the match were received by the TIMES NEWS.
Palmerton used a pair of second half goals to upset Northern Lehigh, 2-0, in Colonial League play.
The Bombers broke a scoreless tie on a Kelsey Eaton goal eight minutes into the second half. Morgan Mummey added an insurance goal with just two minutes remaining.
Northern Lehigh had a big edge in both shots (15-7) and corners (13-2), but Palmerton goalie Lydia Anthony came up big, amking nine saves to post the shutout.
The victory improves Palmerton's record to 3-12-1 in league play and 5-12-1 overall. Northern Lehigh falls to 9-7 in CL play.
Caileigh Landrigan scored at the 4:50 mark of overtime to give Northwestern a 3-2 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.
Landrigan's winning goal came off a corner and was assisted by Lauren Horner.
Landrigame and Horner also teammed up for a second half goal for the Tigers. Tiffany Gumina took a feed from Horner to score the first Northwestern goal.
TheTigers finished with identical 17-6 advantages in both shots and corners.
Northwestern goalie Sam Rex made four saves.
