Thanksgiving dinner

For those who are lonely or have no family to be with, Effort UMC is hosting its 5th Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Thanksgiving Day, beginning at 2 p.m. Offered will be a full dinner with all the trimmings.

Family Night

St. Peter's UMC will hold Family Night on Sunday, Nov. 28, the first Sunday of Advent, beginning at 5 p.m. Dinner is potluck and the church will be decorated after dinner and clean up.

Thanksgiving recess

Pleasant Valley students will be on Thanksgiving recess from early dismissal Wednesday, Nov. 24, through Monday, Nov. 29. School resumes Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Chamber Singers

The Chamber Singers of Philadelphia Biblical University will present a free Christmas concert at Mount Eaton Church, Saylorsburg, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The program will include sacred and secular choral repertoire from various periods, primarily classical and predominately a cappella.

Christmas dinner

Church Women United of Monroe County invites folks to its annual Christmas covered-dish dinner at noon, Saturday, Dec. 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, Stroudsburg.

Christmas stockings/totes, as made up during the year, will be collected by Nora Cilurso. Faith Armitage, from Quiet Valley, will teach Scherenschnitte. One should bring a small, pointed pair of scissors that is suitable for paper.

Beryl Hoff will be honored with the 4th Annual Margaret Wyckoff Wells award for her dedication to community, especially VNA Hospice.

Sons of Italy

The West End Pocono Lodge #2725 of the Order Sons of Italy in America will hold its 12th annual Christmas luncheon Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m., at Mangia Baby Restaurant on Route 115 across from the Pleasant Valley Middle School.

Veggie Tales

The Veggie Tales movie "Saint Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving," will be shown at Mount Eaton Church, Saylorsburg, from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5. The whole family is welcome to this free event. Puppet show

There will be a free Christmas Puppet Show with the Good News Puppets at 1 p.m., Dec. 11 at Countryside Alliance Church, Route 115 and Countryside Drive (across from PV Middle School), Brodheadsville. In addition, there will be face painting, animal balloons and more. Anyone with questions can call (570) 992-3315. Donation given

The Western Pocono Lions Club has given a contribution of $100 to the West End Community Ambulance Association.
