Letter carrier struck, driver cited

A United States Postal Service letter carrier was injured in Tamaqua on Thursday morning, March 4, as he was walking across an intersection.

Jeffrey Jubay, of Tamaqua, was waiting at the southwest corner of Spruce and Center sts. waiting for the light to turn red and traffic to stop. As he began walking east, a green 2000 Dodge Dakota was turning left on Center from west Spruce Street.Jubay was struck by the truck's grill and bug deflector before he dropped to his knees. When he approached the truck the driver sped off southbound on SR309. Jubay and witnesses were able to provide police with a license plate number, which came back to Brian Wolfe. of New Ringgold.Wolfe was later stopped by West Penn Township police.He faces charges of failure to stop, hit and run, as well as failure to report an accident.
