Tamaqua Girl Scout Service Unit 310 held a Girl Scout Cookie Rally on Jan. 8 at St. John United Church of Christ, Tamaqua, to kick off the 2010 Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pa. cookie drive. There are eight varieties of cookies availables: Do-Si-Dos, Lemon Chalet Cremes, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Thin Mints, Dulce De Leche, and new for this year, Thank U Berry Munch. The Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls ages 5-17 how to work together as a team, set financial goals, and develop plans to reach those goals, as well as cultivating a sense of business ethics, public speaking and interpersonal communication skills and acquiring knowledge in marketing, money management and customer service. Customers can find out where scouts will be selling cookies by using the cookie locators at www.FindCookiesNow.org [2]. From left, scouts Sarah Maue, Madison Watson, Rachael Paisley, JulieAnn Koscak and Ashley DeAngelo dig into a plate of cookies.
