A traffic stop has led to the driver facing a drug counts.

State police at Lehighton said Jason Leap, 21, of Kunkletown, was stopped along Kunkletown Road, in the area of the soccer field, in Ross Township, Monroe County, for a traffic violation.

Druing the stop Leap was found to be in possession of a small amount of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Charges will be filed for the two drug violations, troopers said.

State police at Lehighton are investigating the theft of a dirt bike from a Monroe County location.

Conrad Eugene McCarty, 44, of 8974 E. Sherwood Drive, Robinhood Lakes, Polk Township, reported his Suzuki dirt bike, yellow in color and bearing registration plate number DRZ110, was removed from his backyard sometime between 11 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 15.

State police at Fern Ridge reported the arrest of a driver at a sobriety checkpoint.

Troopers said Timothy Getz, 27, of Nazareth, entered the checkpoint at Jonas and Merwinsburg roads, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, about 11:36 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11. Getz did not have any identification on him.

Troopers learned his identity and also that his license was under suspension. While speaking with Getz troopers determined he was under the influence. He failed field sobriety tests. Also found on him was suspected methamphetamine and marijuana in his pockets.

A Schuylkill County man had a large portion of his nose severed during a fight at a tavern. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at Corky's Fourth Street Station, in Tower City.

Troopers said about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, Steven Worhacz Jr., 31, of Williasmtown, and Robert Thomas O'Brien II, 41, of Tower City, became involved in a physical argument. During the course of the argument O'Brien bit the nose of Worchacz severing a large portion of it.

State police at Lehighton are investigating two acts of criminal mischief, both occurring at locations in Monroe County.

Patrick M. Sikorsky, 47, of Lehighton, reported someone smashed the front windows on his 1980 Caterpilla 977L while parked at the Kuhener Estates in Eldred Township. The incident occurred sometime between Oct. 1 and 16.

Elizabeth Hardy, 22, of 3445 Meixell Valley Rd., in Saylorsburg, Ross Township, reported someone threw a rock through a window on a garage on her property. The incident was reported at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 15.

A driver was slightly injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, along SR209 near Church St., Branch Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Walter F. Androshick Jr., 41, of Saint Clair, was driving a 1988 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck northbound when he came upon four vehicles stopped on the road for a mobile mapping vehicle that was working in the area.

State police at Frackville are investigating the theft of copper from a home in the village of MaryD, Schuylkill Township. The incident was one three incidents probed by troopers.

Troopers said a home along Main St. was forcibly entered through the back door. Removed was copper pipe and copper baseboard. Troopers said the home is unoccupried and listed for sale. The owner is Steven Sweigert, of Allentown.

The incident occurred sometime between Sept. 25 and Tuesday, Oct. 12.

A Monroe County man is facing several charges following an incident that occurred on Friday, Oct. 8.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers were investigating a suspected drug deal in the parking lot of the Carriage Square in Coolbaugh Township, about 7:06 p.m. During the course of the probe officers made contact with several individuals.

One of the individuals, Wade Malcolm, 18, of Coolbaugh, was being questioned when he fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued that went across SR196 and into Pocono Farms. Malcolm was apprehended and struggled with officers.

A Northampton County man is facing bad check charges in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the owner of Mt. Pocono Check Cashing reported that a suspect cashed two checks on Sept. 27 in the total amount of $1,649. It was later discovered that the account the checks were drawn on had insufficient funds. On Oct. 8 the suspect attempted to cash two more checks that amounted to $1,166.

Charges are pending following an incident in Monroe County.

State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred on Oct. 14, at 83 Visa Drive, Ross Township, between 9 and 11 p.m. According to troopers Vanessa Pettis, 21, of Saylorsburg, took the 1994 Chevrolet Corsica of Taunya Pettis, 44, of Saylorsburg, after being told she could not use the vehicle.
