State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 6:08 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, along New Street in Norwegian Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Jeremiah A. Dries, 28, of Hamburg, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban southbound and failed to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle left the road and struck a dirt ditch. After impact the vehicle overturned onto the driver's side coming to rest at the base of the ditch.

Tamaqua police cited two women following a Saturday altercation, Oct. 8, at a pub on East Union Street.

Rachel Bales, 26, of 12 Market St., Tamaqua, told officers she had been at the pub at 11 p.m., dining with Timothy Stahl, 39, of 324 E. Union St., Tamaqua.

According to Bales, Stahl's estranged wife, Angela, 40, of 229 Orwigsburg St., Tamaqua, entered the bar and confronted the duo.

Bales told officers that Angela grabbed her by the arms and shoved her. There was a long scratch on Bales left arm.

Mrs. Stahl told officers the confrontation was started by Bales.

A motorcyclist was cited following a crash in Nesquehoning.

Police Chief Sean Smith said he responded to a crash on Sept. 18 about 2:53 p.m. along Willow Lane. Upon arrival Smith identified the driver of the cycle as Brandon Heydt, no age or address given. Heydt suffered multiple lacerations and his left finger was broken. The cycle was not insured and Heydt was not wearing any eye protection and also did not have a class M license.

Heydt was taken to the Lehighton hospital for treatment. Smith filed multiple citations against Heydt.

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI).

State police at Lehighton said Tisha Staehle, 31, of Lansford, was stopped about 2 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, along SR443 in Mahoning Township after being observed driving erratically.

She showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests, troopers said. She was then taken to the Palmerton Hospital for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers added.

Tamaqua police are investigating a number of thefts reported to the department on Sunday.

Daniel Reigel, 60, of 245 W. Rowe St., reported the theft of tools and plumbing supplies from his 1998 Chevrolet utility van. The truck was parked at the rear of Reigel's property on Saturday and was last known to be secure at 11:30 p.m. Reigel discovered the theft and reported it after 5 a.m. Sunday.

The theft of a state vehicle registration plate is being probed in Carbon County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Donald Long, of Albrightsville, reported the plate off his 1998 Saturn was stolen while parked at the Hickory Run Truck Plaza, in East Side Boro. The plate, EBB0194, was taken sometime between Sept. 11-18.

Rush Township Police responded to an accident at 7:16 p.m. Saturday to find a 1996 Saturn sitting in the middle of the roadway on Claremont Avenue (SR309). The vehicle had apparently struck the guide rails before coming to rest in the middle of the road. Witnesses told officers two males had exited the wrecked car and fled through the woods on foot.

A Pennsylvania State Police helicopter assisted in the search, but the men weren't found.

A bear was struck and killed by a car in a Schuylkill County incident. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred about 10 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, along SR61, a mile south of the Schuylkill Mall, in New Castle Township.

Troopers said Nicholas Doyle, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a 2003 Honda Element southbound in the left lane when a large black bear began crossing the road from the west side.

Doyle was unable to avoid striking the bear and hit it with the rigth front of his car.

Lehighton police have issued a warning for businesses and residents about a borough ordinance that prohibits signs being posted or hanging "upon utility poles, light posts or sign posts owned by the borough or any other public utility or entity, any sign, banner, poster, etc., regardless of the method of attachment."

Police said they will issue a citation for each violation of the ordinance which carries a fine of $25 and costs.

Each violation on each pole or post shall be considered a separate offense, police said.

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Saturday, Oct. 8, on a charge of aggravated assault. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at 8 Ton Road at The Silt Dams, in Blythe Township.

Troopers said about 6 p.m. at the above location Jennifer Gernert, 34, and Christopher Pate, 32, both of Schuylkill Haven, engaged in a verbal argument which escalated to physical contact.
