State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of 13 truck tractor batteries from a Schuylkill County site.

Troopers said unknown criminals entered onto the property of Otto's Amusements, North Manheim Township, and removed the batteries by cutting the cables.

Total loss was estimated at $113, troopers said.

The incident occurred sometime between July 16 and Wednesday, Aug. 22.

An inmate at the state correctional institution at Mahanoy-Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County, has been charged with criminal solicitation and other counts.

State police at Frackville said Eric A. Costo, 23, has also been charged with two counts of criminal conspiracy.

The charges are the result of a joint investigation by troopers and security personnel at the prison.

According to troopers Costo solicited a girlfriend through letters asking her to bring marijuana to the prsion.

A teen was cited for underage drinking following an incident in Slatington.

Police responded to the A Plus Sunoco, at 160 Main St., about 3:33 a.m. on Aug. 8 for a report of a theft called in by a male at the scene.

On scene officers spoke with Allan Franklin Barthol, 19, of 1339 Canal St., Northampton. Barthol complained that someone removed the "sim"card form his cellular phone. He was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest, police said.

A Monroe County driver is facing charges, including driving under the influence (DUI).

State police at Lehighton said about 1:24 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, troopers observed a driver committing a vehicle code violation along Mountain View Drive, east of Lower Greenhill Road, in Polk Township, and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The driver fled the scene at a very high rate of speed never stopping for several stop signs. After about four miles of pursuit the driver tried to pull into Jaycees Park and turn off the lights of the vehicle to avoid police.

A Bucks County woman was charged with domestic assault Friday by Pocono Mountain Regional police.

Margaret Koch, 49, of Langhorne, allegedly committed the crime at 155 Safro Ct., Arrowhead Lakes, Coolbaugh Township at 2:13 a.m.

According to police, they were called to the house and Margaret's husband, Kevin Koch, told them his wife, who had left the house on foot before police arrived, was intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Police checked the area, but could not find her. Shortly after they left, she returned, bit Kevin and fled after police were called.

Three persons were injured in a two vehicle crash in Carbon County. State police at Hazleton said the crash occurred at the intersection of Lehigh Gorge Drive and Buck Mountain Road, in Lehigh Township, on Tuesday morning.

Troopers said Karl Wagner, of Weatherly, driving a 2008 Ford Focus, attempted to make a left hand turn from Lehigh Gorge onto Buck Mountain, when he cut in front of a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Francis Miller, of White Haven.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways over the past weekend, including a hit-and-run.

A two-vehicle crash occurred about 2:12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, along SR443 (Suedberg Road), in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Charles Blewis, 67, of Gordon, driving a 2011 Toyota Tundra, was negotiating a left turn onto 443 after stopping for a stop sign. He traveled into the path of a 2004 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Charles W. Ney, 68, of Pine Grove, who was westbound on 443.

A Monroe County motorcyclist led police on a chase and is now facing charges. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occurred on Aug. 4 along SR115.

Police said a motorcyclist was tailgating a police cruiser while southbound on SR115 in Tunkhannock Township. The biker then passed the police car and another vehicle in a unsafe manner. Police activated the emergency lights and siren on their vehicle and attempted to stop the cyclist.

A Carbon County driver was cited after being involved in a rear-end type crash in Lehigh County. State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred about 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, along Chestnut St., near Batman Road, in Upper Milford Township.

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, along Blue Ridge Road, in the area of Shady Oaks Road, in Ross Township.

State police at Lehighton said Arthur N. Rampaul, 43, of Kunkletown, was stopped for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI
