Axel Figueroa, 33, of Albrightsville, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash Aug. 28 at 8:20 p.m. on State Route 534, near Jonas Mountain Drive, in Penn Forest Township.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said he was westbound on Rt. 534 in a 2007 Nissan when he lost control of the vehicle. It traveled off the westbound shoulder of the road and struck a pile of boulders, becoming disabled and requiring towing from the scene.

A Carbon County business has been cited by the state liquor control board.

Sue Ellen M. Tracey, doing business as Penn Lunch, 201 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, was cited for failed to post in a conspicuous place on the outside of the licensed premises, or in a window plainly visible from the outside of the premises a notice of suspension.

This charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 9:17 p.m. on Aug. 21 along S. Second Street at Bridge Street, in Lehighton.

State police at Lehighton said Donald Long, 35, of Palmerton, was stopped at the above location for a traffic violation. He was found to be under the influence and is facing a DUI count.

An incident at a Schuylkill County fire company resulted in an arrest.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said John Ryan Bushar, 31, of Pottsville, was cited for harassment for allegedly punching Patrick Michael Harach, 21, also of Pottsville, in the face.

The incident occurred at the Llewellyn Fire Company, 12 Silverton Rd., Branch Township, about 11:33 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.

State police at Frackville are investigating an attempted burglary at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said unknown criminals attempted to break into Kuzmission Service Station located along School House Road, in Oneida, East Union Township. Troopers said the front door was broken but an audible alarm went off and apparently scared off the intruders.

The incident occurred about 11:29 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29.

Tamaqua police attempted to take a former local man, wanted on an outstanding warrant, into custody Aug. 17 but had to release him when the duty district judge was unavailable.

Officers responded to a disturbance at 35 Vine St. at 6:50 p.m. where they found George Cope, 24, involved in an altercation with Sarah Jean Hill, 22.

A records check indicated Cope was wanted on a warrant issued by Rush Township police.

Instead of being taken into custody Cope had to be released when District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, was unavailable.

A mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law were both cited following an incident in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, along Virginia Avenue, Shenandoah Heights, West Mahanoy Township.

Troopers said Susan Schistle, 54, and her daughter-in-law, Jordan Schistle, 22, of Hamburg, engaged in a physical altercation.

Both were issued non-traffic citations for harassment, troopers said.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a burglary at the Sun Valley Fire Company in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

The burglary happened at about 3:20 a.m. Friday.

The burglar smashed a rear window to enter the fire company club on Juniper Road and stole several bottles of liquor.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call state police at (570) 646-2271.

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Criminal charges were filed against Scott Heffelfinger, 24, no known address, for receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of automobile, possession of drug paraphernalia, and drivers required to be licensed. The incident occurred on Aug. 16 at 1:19 a.m. in the 600 block of Delaware Avenue.

Troy Bender, 46, of 401 Lehigh Avenue, third floor, Palmerton, was cited for public drunkenness. The violation occurred on Aug. 23 at 4:03 a.m. in the 400 block of Lehigh Avenue.

A Monroe County man has been charged with assaulting two teens.

State police at Fern Rige said Juan Jose Rivera Jr., 31, of Jackson Township, was cited for simple assault for allegedly assaulting two teens, a 12-year-old male and a 11-year-old female.

The incident occurred at 6414G Pine Ridge Road, in Jackson Township, about 10:44 p.m. on Aug. 22, troopers said.
