Slatington police report the arrest of Barry Rausch, 41, of 433 S. Walnut St., Slatington, on a charge of public drunkenness.

Police said they responded at 7:48 p.m. June 8 to the 600 block of Main Street to investigate a report of an intoxicated male and found Rausch highly intoxicated in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill Store. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating two burglaries recently.

Troopers said the residence at 1-45 Rocky Mountain Drive North, a tenth of a mile east of SR115, in Chestnuthill Township, was entered sometime between April 21 and Saturday, June 2. A microwave was removed from the home and the criminals attempted to remove a conventional oven. The property is owned by James William Cannon, 51, of Levittown, N.Y.

Robert Oswald, 46, of 105 Hill St., Apt. 2, Slatington, has been cited by borough police for violating Slatington's burning ordinance.

Police said the incident happened at 8:39 p.m. June 8 off Railroad Street in the area of the Rails-to-Trails route.

Police said the man is charged with illegally burning copper at the site.

A Coaldale man, whose passenger was injured in a DUI-related car crash in March, has been released on $10,000 unsecured bail after being charged in connection with the incident.

John Vincent Chaney, 21, of 130 Sixth St., faces driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, recklessly endangering another person, and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI. The accident occurred March 28. The passenger injured was Bynon, who sustained a broken neck.

Matthew Thornton, 20, of Birdsboro, was arrested by Slatington police at 7:02 p.m. June 6 after police made a traffic stop at South Walnut and Lehigh streets for motor vehicle code violations.

He was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his operating privileges are suspended. He was also issued a citation for failure to use a seat belt.

After his arraignment, Thornton was committed to the Lehigh County prison, Allentown.

A fugitive from Georgia was apprehended on Wednesday in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville, along with the U.S. Marshals Violent Crimes Task Force, received information that Ricky Knight, 33, of Atlanta, was staying at the Super 8 Motel, at 2160 Golden Key Rd., in Weisenburg Township.

Slatington police say they have apprehended a borough man who was wanted by the Lehigh County Adult Probation authorities.

Police said Joel Trybulski, 30, of 440 Second St., was taken into custody without incident on June 8 at 4:45 p.m. at South Second and East South streets.

He was transported to the Lehigh County Prison, Allentown.

Two inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI), 201 Morea Rd., in Mahanoy Township, have been charged in separate incidents.

State police at Frackville said inmate Hanif Chamber, 30, was been charged with aggravated harassment and disorderly conduct. Troopers said Chamber spit on corrections officer Sgt. Brian Gower, 22. The incident occurred about noon on May 18.

A Tamaqua man will receive two citations following an incident in the 200 block of East Broad Street last Friday.

Schuylkill Township Police Chief Jesse Zimmerman was in the area of the Majestic House Apartment Complex when he witnessed one man punching another.

The assailant was identified as David Green, 60, of 402 Pine St., and the victim was Vincent Smith, 60, of 409 W. Broad St., Tamaqua. The argument was reportedly over a woman.

Green was cited for harassment and disorderly conduct.

Two Tamaqua residents were recently cited for allowing their dogs to bark excessively.

Steve Llewellyn, 317 Owl Creek Rd., was cited on June 6 and again on June 11 after officers received complaints between 9:30 and 10 p.m.

Kelly Houseman, 514 Arlington St., was cited following a 9 a.m. incident on June 10.

Officers note both owners have been repeatedly warned about allowing their dogs to bark incessantly.
