A Schuylkill County man has been jailed on theft and related counts following an incident that occurred Saturday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said William J. Murphy, 46, of Pottsville, arrived at the home of William M. Owens, 65, of 1 Terrace Drive, Schuylkill Haven, asking about renting a trailer. Murphy led Owens to believe that his daughter had just passed away and he needed money for the services.

Copper piping was taken in a Carbon County burglary.

State police at Fern Ridge said the break-in occurred at a residence along Skyline Drive in the Indian Mountain Lakes development in Penn Forest Township.

The copper piping was removed from the crawl space of the home. The incident occurred sometime between Jan. 12 and Sunday. The home is owned by Frank A. Dardanelli, 59, of Philadelphia.

State police at Fogelsville reported investigating a rear-end crash in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County, at 11:34 a.m. on July 9.

Troopers said Jessica R. Lackey, 32, of Slatington, and Jason Archery, 31, of Henryville, were southbound just before Kressler Road. Archery stopped to make a left turn when his 2009 Hino 268 truck was struck in the rear by Lackey's 2014 Hyundai Elantra.

Lackey sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Archery was not injured.

Troopers cited Lackey for following too closely.

A Schuylkill County woman, stopped for traffic violation and suspicion of driving under the influence, was jailed on an outstanding arrest warrant issued in New York.

State police at Frackville said Tabitha Schriner, 21, of Cressona, was stopped at 10:53 p.m. Friday along Route 61, south of the area of the Fairlane Village Mall, in East Norwegian Township. She was observed driving in an unsafe manner.

A Pottsville male will be charged after he choked a woman during an argument.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Schuylkill Haven, the incident occurred at 11:04 a.m., Friday, at 501 Heritage Heights, Norwegian Township, Schuylkill County.

At that time, the 57-year-old male, who has not been identified, and a 58-year-old Pottsville female, also not identified, began arguing.

The male then choked the female, causing redness to her neck.

A Bucks County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Kymberly Ann Murray, 48, of Chalfont, was stopped about 7:45 p.m. on June 11 along Interstate 80 eastbound in Tobyhanna Township for committing numerous traffic violations.

She was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was then placed under arrest and charged.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft from vehicle incident.

Troopers said Thomas Heenan, 80, of Pottsville, reported his car was entered while parked at 39 Ann St., East Norwegian Township. Removed from the vehicle was a white bank envelope, which contained $690 in cash.

The incident occurred sometime between 10:50 and 11:40 a.m. on Thursday.

State police at Frackville are investigating the reported theft of a rifle in the Schuylkill Township community of Brockton.

Troopers said Brian Bahm, 71, of 343 Valley St., reported a .22-caliber long rifle was stolen from his truck while it was parked at his residence. The theft occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred in the parking lot of a Schuylkill County restaurant.

Gwendolyn Reese, 83, of Pottsville, reported someone smashed the rear window on the driver's side of her vehicle while it was parked at Friendly's Restaurant, located in the Fairlane Village Mall in Norwegian Township.

The incident occurred sometime between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

A Weatherly driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:30 a.m. Monday along Quakake Road in Packer Township, Carbon County.

State police at Hazleton said Linda A. Lesko, 58, was driving a 2005 Mazda Tribute eastbound, near Route 93, when the vehicle left the road and struck a road sign. After impact with the sign the Tribute continued up an embankment, striking a tree and then rolling over onto its roof.

Lesko was taken by Weatherly ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton Campus, for treatment of what troopers said was a minor injury.
