Trick or Treat Night will be observed in Coaldale on Wednesday, Oct. 31, between 6-8 p.m.

All residents are asked to keep their porch lights on for youths they are welcoming to their homes.

Police advise that all children participating in the program be accompanied by an adult.

JROTC Boosters meeting

The next meeting of the Panther Valley JROTC Boosters will be held on Monday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. in the JROTC room. Elections will be held at this time. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend.

Anthracite Little League meeting

The Anthracite Little League will host a meeting at 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Summit Hill borough building.

Coaldale

First Congregational Church

Morning Worship with Holy Communion will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at First Congregational Church, Coaldale. Sunday School for all ages will follow at 10 a.m. Children and youth ages 3-18 are welcome to attend.

The church board will not meet Oct. 8 as previously announced. Instead, the board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, Morning Worship will be at 9 a.m. and Sunday School at 10 a.m.

Golden Agers

The Sept. 24 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers was opened by President Ronnie Bazik with a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America.

The special guest speaker was Nick Hawkey from "Dream Come True." Hawkey volunteers playing Santa at Children's parties and collects for the Red Kettle Collection for the Salvation Army.

The Sunshine report was given by Nancy Canzoneri. Irene Hudasky presented her travel report.

The executive board of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will hold a meeting on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. at the home of Madeline Ligenza. The meeting will be co-hosted by Judy Moon.

The regular meeting is set for Monday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.

The program will feature Judy Greg speaking on Sy n 1. The hospitality committee will be chaired by Gloria Shubeck with Frances Abitanta, Phyllis Novotny, Mary Lengyel and Mary Helen Rehatchek serving.

All dues should be paid by December.

Golden Agers

The Sept. 10 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with prayer and moment of silence remembering the 9/11 tragedy. Irene Hudasky led a hymn dedicated to this date. Sue Dopira led the group with patriotic songs ending with "Let There Be Peace On Earth."

Mary Ann and Frank Karnish were congratulated on their 46th wedding anniversary.

Members of the Panther Valley Golden Agers who signed up for the picnic to be held Monday Sept. 17 at #9 Picnic area, are reminded that lunch will start at 1 p.m. Anyone wishing to participate in the Chinese auction is asked to bring a $5 gift.
