High Street closed

High Street will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, May 24 at 7 a.m. This is due to the reconstruction of the wall between 123 and 127 High St. Work will be done weather permitting and expected to be finished in August. If you have any questions, please call the borough office.

Members of the LAOH will meet on Sun., May 16, at 7 p.m. at McGinley Hall.

Guest speaker

David Dagon, case worker for Services for Older Adults, will be the guest speaker on Monday, May 17, at the bereavement group of St. Joseph's Church. This support group meets on Monday evenings and is open to anyone who is suffering from the loss of a loved one. They meet in the Brogan Room located behind St. Joseph's Church, at 7 p.m. If you wish more information call the rectory office, (570) 325-3731.

Book signing

On Saturday, April 24 at 10 a.m., JoAnn Smith Ainsworth will be guest author and speaker at the Dimmick Memorial Library, 54 Broadway in downtown Jim Thorpe. She will autograph her novels Matilda's Song and Out of the Dark. Ainsworth is a graduate of the Jim Thorpe Area High School, class of 1956, and is excited about coming back to her hometown and speaking in her hometown library.

Bereavement group

The bereavement group sponsored by St. Joseph's Church, will begin meeting on Monday evenings, starting this evening, in the Brogan Room of the church. The group will be from 7-8:30 on Monday evenings until May 24.

Holy Week Services

The following local churches have announced their services for Holy Week.

St. John's Lutheran Church, South Ave., Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. with the Rite of First Holy Communion and the stripping of the altar. Good Friday service at 2 p.m. There will be no service on Saturday and only one service, on Easter Sunday, that being at 10:30 a.m.
