Nesquehoning

Trick or treat night

Nesquehoning Mayor Tony Walck has declared Sunday, Oct. 31 will be the official Trick or Treat Night in Nesquehoning. Please have your porch light on if you plan to welcome the children to your door.

The regular monthly meeting of Nesquehoning VFW Ladies Auxiliary was held on Sept. 14 with President Amanda Breiner in charge.

A free community meal will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. Enjoy a free meal and fellowship. All are welcome.

Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in the Lutheran Parish Hall of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. The evening's them will be "Hoe Down."

GriefShare

A new GriefShare group is forming at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, scheduled to begin weekly meetings on Oct. 6. GriefShare is a ministry to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. The Biblically based, non-denominational sessions will be held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. for a 13-week time period.

Bethany EC is located at 223 E. Broad St.

Golden Agers

The next meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers will be held on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. The guest will be Geraldine Schaefer. Chorus practice begins at 11 a.m.

The guest speaker at the last meeting was Jean Zimmerman, a representative from RSVP. She spoke of all the available resources the agency provides.

Any member wishing to attend the Christmas Party on Nov. 28 should register and make payment at any meeting prior to the deadline of Nov. 8.

Bloodmobile

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be stationed at Memorial Park on Oct. 20, from 1-6 p.m. Donors should be 17 years of age and older.

Tire collection

Tire collection in the borough will take place on Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon. It will take place at Memorial Park. All tires must be off the rims. If you have questions contact the borough office.

Blessing of animals

There will be a Blessing of the Animals at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at Grace Lutheran Church, 115 S. Fourth St., Lehighton.

Those bringing pets must make sure the pets are either caged or leashed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Lehighton Area Democrats meet Oct. 6

The Lehighton Area Democrats will meet at Johnnie's Pizza at 100 N. 1st St. in downtown Lehighton next to the Democratic Election Center.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

The Club is under the new leadership of President Gary Parker.

Owl Creek Halloween

The Owl Creek Reservoir Commission has set the dates for its annual Fall Foliage/Halloween Festival. This year's event will be held Oct. 23-24, beginning at noon each day.

In addition to hayrides around the reservoir, activities will include a hay maze, pumpkin painting, scarecrow and pumpkin photos, face painting, marshmallow roasting and more. The hayrides will run until 11 p.m. on Saturday (haunted after dusk) and to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Food and refreshments will also be available.

Rain dates will be Oct. 30-31.
