Lansford

Council committee

Lansford Borough Council will hold a Facility Planning Meeting at the borough office, 26 E. Patterson St., Lansford, on Monday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Public rosary

The fourth annual public square rosary recitation will take place on Sunday, Oct. 16, beginning at noon at Kennedy Park in town. Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

The event is being hosted by St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, as part of the nationwide "America Needs Fatima" program.

Halloween parade

The Annual Tamaqua Halloween Parade will be held on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., with a rain date of Oct. 27.

The parade will be sponsored by the Tamaqua Lions Club, with assistance from the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. Communication assistance along the parade route will be provided by the Tamaqua Wireless Association.

Entries are being accepted now for floats/motorized units and marching units. Today is the deadline for registration.

Garden club

The South Schuylkill Garden Club will meet Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m., at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Dock Street, Schuylkill Haven. The evening will include a presentation from members of the Frog Hollow Environmental Center Board of Directors Linda Collins, Ann Irving, Shirley McCord, Helen Moyer and Jeanne Zulich. Frog Hollow's 28 acres of native woods and wetlands, located west of Friedensburg, is managed by the South Schuylkill Garden Club with the help of the Elsie Krammes Trust Fund.

Summit Hill

Heritage center

The Summit Hill Heritage Center, formerly St. Paul United Church of Christ, is in need of several "wish list" items, including: plastic cutting boards (medium size), dish towels, dish cloths, shovels, brooms, a ladder, a mat for the narthex and a computer, printer and copier.

Pleasant Valley School District hosts a monthly meeting of educators, parents, students, and community members to discuss and plan for programs and activities to promote a knowledge and acceptance of diversity.

Bloodmobile results

Miller-Keystone Blood Center's Oct. 7 community visit at the First United Church of Christ drew 65 potential donors, and 61 units of blood were collected.

This visit was sponsored by the Concourse Club.

The following donors reached gallon levels: Delbert Eckhart, 20 gallons; Delphin George and James Shafer, 5 gallons each; Betty Furler, 4 gallons; Richard Bachert and William Hayes, 2 gallons each.

LALLC Halloween Spooktacular

A Halloween Spooktacular will be held for children 12 and under who attend Lehighton Area School District, from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Lehighton Youth Center. There will be awards for costumes, games, candy and treats. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free, but everyone is asked to bring a pair of used eyeglasses. can of food, or pet item. The event is being sponsored by Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club.
