Police: Man sold guns without permission

Charges against a Monroe County man for receiving stolen property have been bound over for court.

Frank Mackes, 36, of Tannersville, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing last week before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.Mackes faces seven counts of receiving stolen property, a felony two; and one count of receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor one.Mackes waived his right to the hearing and will appear for a pretrial status conference at 12:30 p.m. May 24.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Nicolas De La Iglesia of the Pennsylvania State Police:Between the dates of Aug. 13, 2016, and Sept. 21, 2016, Mackes disposed of movable property belonging to the victim, the affidavit says.Mackes at the time of this incident was living with the victim, and disposed of the property by selling the items to a pawnshop, P & J Gold, Coin, and Guns, located at 1980 Route 209, in Chestnuthill Township.The owner of the pawnshop was interviewed by Trooper Joseph Wood on Sept. 27. He said Mackes had sold him seven firearms and a soft gun case.The owner was interviewed by Trooper Marvin Shair on Sept. 29, and it was determined that a Bulova watch was also sold to P & J Gold, Coin, and Guns.P & J Gold, Coin, and Guns paid $775 to Mackes for the items. All of the items, with the exception of the soft gun case, and several guns, were recovered from P & J Gold, Coin, and Guns and entered into evidence.The victim did not give him permission to take possession of or dispose of any of the items.
