Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Schnell of Palmerton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently. The late Rev. W.W. Moyer and the late George Bickel married the couple on June 8, 1957, at Christ UCC Church in Jim Thorpe.

Mrs. Schnell is the former Alice Heckman, daughter of the late Asher and Mary (Diehl) Heckman of Kunkletown. She was employed 28 years at the former Blue Ridge Sportswear in Palmerton.Mr. Schnell is the son of the late Solomon and Florence (Brown) Schnell of Lehighton. He was employed by the A&P Tea Co. for 38 years.They have been attending St. Paul's UCC Church, Big Creek, Lehighton, as a couple and family, since their wedding day.The couple has five children and 10 grandchildren: Wanda Crown and her husband, Barry of Stroudsburg and grandson Scott and wife, Diane of Hillsborough, North Carolina; Glenn Schnell and his wife Diane and grandchildren, Matthew, Eric and Kristina, wife of James Scott; Pamela Minnich of Laurys Station and grandson, Daniel; Aaron Schnell and his wife, Jean and grandchildren, Nicole and Brandon; and Susan Eckhart and her husband, Barry of Laurys Station and grandchildren, Ashley, Jared and Nicholas.A family dinner honoring the couple was held at Samuel Owens Restaurant in Coplay on June 3.
