Angels are among us

Recently as I was browsing on the Internet I found a very interesting article about angels.

I am going to pass on a few "down to earth" things that I learned while reading it.Most of us think of angels as beautiful, winged beings that are near us but we don't see them.Another thought is they could be real people with mortal bodies; people who seem to be directed from above and are just what we need the most during special or trying times in our lives. Here are some of the signs that may help us see who the angels in our lives could be.Your mother. Most mothers could get their wings for what they have done for their children. They were by your side to encourage you through good times and bad times; they always remain your main cheerleaders in your life.Take time to speak with little children; they are the smallest angels. They are pure and wise beyond their years and need to be treated with love.Listen for messages. All angels speak with a message of truth that goes straight to your heart. Your best friend who tells you the truth when no one else will is an angel to you.Look for good people who don't lie or deceive. People who are completely honest are angels.Remember your dreams; they could have meanings. They could be sent by a loved one who has gone before us and is now an angel with a heavenly message just for you.Open your eyes to perfect strangers, because life lessons are learned. The homeless can make you appreciate what you have. The special needs children can make you smile as you watch them accomplish a task. Who is to say they are not angels?Look for miracles that happen every day. People we don't know help us out by warning us of danger. Like someone telling you that you're driving the wrong way on a one-way street; that would be an angel to me.Our teachers who taught us to read, write and spell could be the most patient angels of all.Think of your many friends and how many times they have looked out for your safety and stopped you from making a mistake. Maybe they were guided to help you at special times. Have you ever stopped a friend from making a mistake? If you have, did you ever wonder why?Your doctors and dentists can be your angels. How many times were they moved to do just the right thing at just the right time to protect you or spare your life?I am going to share a true story that happened just a few months ago as friends of ours were flying here from the Midwest. Because of a mechanical problem their plane left an hour late from the airport, leaving them with only half an hour to change planes in Chicago. As they entered the terminal they spotted two security guards and asked for help. They needed to get to their flight which was to take off in just 15 minutes. After a bit of hesitation, the one man called ahead to hold the flight and the other led them down a flight of stairs to the tarmac of gigantic O'Hare Airport. He then drove them in his security SUV to their connecting plane. Giant 747s were taking off and landing all around them as they zigzagged around on the ground. The security guard got them to their plane. He told them to wait as he ran into the terminal and got their tickets validated. He then came back to lead them on the plane. So why did that man do that? Our friends said the security guard explained to them that what he was about to do was wrong on all counts, but because he was the boss, he was going to do it for them so they would not miss the flight. As they shared their very unusual story with us we could not help but wonder how it was that Tom and Elaine, amid thousands of people going through O'Hare Airport that day, would stumble upon this special person. A person who would help them in such an orthodox way. They believe that security guard was their special angel, that's for sure.Real or not, people have been wondering about divine intervention by angels for more than four thousand years, but we can all be an angel just by being open to helping our family, friends and neighbors every day.The path of life can be long and sometimes rough. You can make a difference by being an "angel" to someone who needs some goodness in their life.
