A New York state driver is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash that occurred on June 24 around 9:50 p.m. along Route 611 at Hemlock Drive.

Pocono Mountain Regional police responded to the scene and made contact with a woman, identified as Christine M. Mascara-Perillo, 47, of 2 Collins Road in Eldred, New York. Mascara-Perillo denied driving the vehicle involved in the crash and claimed the driver had fled the scene. Witnesses, however, identified her as the driver, which she eventually admitted.Police said several prescription pill bottles along with unprescribed fentanyl were recovered from her vehicle. She was taken toa hospital for a blood test and treatment of injuries.The blood test results showed the presence of a controlled substance in her system.Mascara-Perillo has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, driving while under suspension and two other summary motor vehicle code violations.
