Really smart water

If you have trouble remembering to change the filter inside your Brita pitcher, not to worry. Amazon and Brita have created a Wi-Fi-enabled pitcher that will automatically order a new filter from Amazon when it's needed. The filters sell for $5.99 each and last for 40 gallons of water.

The Brita Infinity Smart Water Pitcher, which includes one filter, retails for $44.99. It holds 8 cups of water. The pitcher is part of Amazon Dash Replenishment, which tracks usage and automatically orders its own replacement filters. The service also works for Brothers printers and a GE washing machine, so that you'll never run out of ink or laundry detergent either.According to Amazon.com, "connect your pitcher to your home network, place the filter in the pitcher and set the indicator. As the filter gets used and nears its capacity, the smart pitcher triggers a replacement order."Need even more convenience in your life? Amazon Prime members can purchase Wi-Fi-enabled, product-specific "Dash" buttons that can be adhered to a device or otherwise displayed and set to order one thing, such as coffee, macaroni and cheese or paper towels. The buttons sell for $4.99.
