Shane Haydt recently received the annual Allan J Brockett Pratt & Whitney - Penn State Student Award.The award honors the support given by Allan J. Brockett, vice president of engineering at Pratt & Whitney, and is given to a graduate student who demonstrates "technical excellence and leadership to the gas turbine industry."

Shane is a 2009 graduate of Lehighton Area High School. He was accepted to Penn State's Schreyer Honors College and received his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Penn State in 2013. He is currently working toward his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Penn State.At Penn State, he was a member of the Blue Band from 2009 to 2013. He also was a member of Engineering Ambassadors as an undergraduate, and has served as the graduate assistant adviser to the Engineering Ambassadors for the past two years.He is the son of Drue and Jan Haydt.
