Charges of careless driving are pending against Richard F. Blum, 68, of Bangor, following a one-vehicle crash at 3:49 p.m. June 20 on Route 534 in Polk Township. He was not injured in the crash.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said he was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound near Jonas Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a large rock and a tree stump on the shoulder of the road.The vehicle was towed from the scene.Police said Blum told them the crash happened after he reached for his cellphone, which had fallen onto the floor of the vehicle.
