Schuylkill woman cited twice, jailed

A Schuylkill County woman was cited twice within 24 hours, and then found to be a fugitive from justice and jailed. State police at Frackville said the incidents occurred in New Philadelphia borough on June 11 and 12.

Troopers said at 9 p.m. June 11 they were dispatched to 247 Valley St. for a disturbance. As the result of an investigation troopers cited Mary Ann Smith, 33, of New Philadelphia, with harassment. Troopers said Smith assaulted a 64-year-old New Philadelphia man.Then at 8:10 a.m. on June 12 troopers were dispatched to the same scene for another disturbance. On scene troopers learned that Smith head assaulted a 65-year-old woman from New Philadelphia. She was cited for harassment.Troopers said during the second contact with Smith it was learned she had an active warrant for her arrest issued out of Jersey City, New Jersey, from the Hudson County sheriff's office. She was arraigned before on-call District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, on a fugitive from justice warrant. Bail was set at $10,000 straight cash. Smith was unable to post bail and was placed in the county prison in Pottsville pending extradition to New Jersey.
