Woman admits hindering police

A Lehigh County woman pleaded to one count of hindering police while a Carbon female admitted her part in the theft of coins.

Both defendants appeared before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II on Monday.Amy Lynn Tessitore, 28, of Allentown, pleaded to hindering the apprehension of a wanted person.She was arrested following a vehicle stop on Oct. 4, 2012, by state police at Lehighton. At the stop Tessitore gave a false name, trying to protect another person, who was wanted by police at the time. She was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.Tessitore said she is addicted to heroin but is trying to get help.Nanovic placed her on probation for three years and ordered she get a D&A evaluation.Tracey Ann Hontz, 45, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property.She was arrested by Palmerton police after Joshua Mertz, of Lehigh Avenue, reported several sets of coins he had were removed from his residence. Hontz reportedly tried to sell the coin sets at a local Palmerton store. The store notified police of the incident.All the coins have been returned to Mertz.Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a D&A evaluation.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
