St. John Neumann Regional holds eighth-grade graduation

St. John Neumann Regional School held its eighth-grade graduation June 9 at Sacred Heart Church in Palmerton.

The celebration started with graduates marching down the aisle holding symbols of meaningful memories.Mass was celebrated by priests from three supporting parishes, Sacred Heart Church in Palmerton, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Slatington, St. Nicholas Church in Walnutport and Deacon Girard.A personal and touching homily was given by the Rev. Bill Campion of Sacred Heart Church.During Mass, the graduates handed flowers to their parents as a thank you for their support and the sacrifices they made to give them a Catholic education. The awards presentation followed shortly after the Mass.The celebration continued at the school gym for refreshments and sharing of memories. A video montage was played, the graduates shared their most memorable experience, and they passed on their "Will" to the seventh-graders.The evening concluded with a social gathering at the Slopeside Restaurant at Blue Mountain Resort.Eighth-grade graduates included Brennah Bates, Gabrielle Bauer, Matthew Doherty, Jacob Martinez, Madison Martinez, Natalie Matsko, Hannah Sarmir and Tomasz Zukowksi.At St. John Neumann Regional School's Slatington campus, the kindergarten celebrated their "moving up ceremony" on June 10.The kindergartners presented the songs they prepared for the program, recited poems, and were each awarded a certificate of completion and miniature versions of class pet Stormy.Refreshments followed after the program.Kindergartners who graduated included Savannah Biechy, Ben Cornmesser, Daphne Gowin, Anna Kratzer, Connor Lawless, Arianna Lichtsteiner, Riley Lawless, Josh Mollo and Karina Wisocky.
