Library activities

The Palmerton Area Library offers activities for children and adults.

Children's activities• Preschool story hour is held at 10:30 a.m. each Friday during the school year. It is free and open to the public.• Paws of Hope Kids read to Dogs from 11 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month. The program is free, but parents must preregister for a time slot by calling the library at 610-826-3424.• Watercolor painting classes are offered on Tuesdays for children, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays for adults. pzpzpz444@gmail.com.• Homework Helpers, an after-school program, is held for students in grades one through eight from 3-4:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. As part of the program, volunteer tutors help children with their homework and other assignments.• Teen Advisory Group for teenagers in grades five through 12 are held the first and third Thursdays of each month during the school year. Call the library and ask for Tessa for details.Activities for all• The Knitting Club meets from 6-8 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month. The program is free and open to anyone of all skill levels interested in knitting and crocheting.• The Third Monday Book Club meets from noon to 1 p.m. the third Monday of each month and discusses a different book each month. The book for this month is "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. New members are always welcome.• Yoga classes are offered at 9 a.m. Saturdays. Call the teacher at 570-436-1762 for more information, or stop in on Saturday mornings.• The library board of directors meets at 4 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public.• Friends of the Palmerton Area Library meet four times a year. Everyone is welcome to attend.• The Sew What Quilt Guild meets at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. New members and visitors are always welcome. Please use the side door.Used books and movies for saleThe Palmerton Area Library basement book sale is open during regular library hours.New books arrive on a weekly basis, as well as movies, puzzles and CDs.Volunteers are always needed to sort and place books on shelves.
