Two of the local dogs shown at the Westminster Dog Show in Madison Square Garden have been awarded second place ribbons for their breeds.

Journey, a Chow-Chow owned by Karen Tracy of Franklin Township, and Envy, a Chinese Shar-Pei bred by Jan Kolnik and Pat Zimmel-Roach of Lehighton, both won "Best of the Opposite Sex" titles. The title is awarded to the top dog with the opposite sex of the breed winners.Only the top dog advances in the two-day competition, which is considered the Super Bowl of dog events.
