Chestnuthill Township holds first community day

LINDA KOEHLER/TIMES NEWS These "chefs" from Boy Scout Troop 98 cooked up hot dogs for Chestnuthill Township's first community day held in the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville. All the food served was free to the public, including homemade chili, hot dogs and more. The chefs are, from left: Dave Fenton, involved Troop 98 parent; Chris Eckert, Chestnuthill Township supervisor; Doug Atherton, Troop 98 assistant Scoutmaster and Community Day chairman; Dan Tichy, involved parent of Troop 98; and Ray Pasqua, assistant Scoutmaster. Atherton said the township allocated funds for the food in the budget. "The generosity of the community is awesome. Every donation received today will go to West End Park and Open Space Commission. We are really pleased with the turnout. It's a wonderful day. I want it to be an annual event to let the community know what is here in the community and that they live in a wonderful community and that's what we want to celebrate."
