School employees did not seek union bid

Last week, the Panther Valley School Board voted against allowing Teamster Union Local 773 from becoming the bargaining agent for clerical employees including the central office secretary, district transportation coordinator, staff accountant, and accounts payable clerk.

Kenneth R. Marx Jr., business manager for the district, said the employees did not seek union representation and in fact are opposed to being represented by the union. He said, "The employees listed did not place a bid to be unionized. The union feels they have the right to unionize those positions.""In fact the employees listed in the article have expressed that they do not wish to join the union. The employees listed in the article requested that I clear this up," Marx said. The negative action by the board said it was in regards to a resolution between the Teamsters and the school district dated Jan. 24.
