Panther Valley Library announces schedule

The Fizz Boom Read Summer Reading Program at the Panther Valley Library, located at 117 E. Bertsch St. in Lansford, will run from June 23 through July 28.

Children from 3 to 12 (separated into four age groups) will love this fast-paced reading program.Special events are scheduled throughout the program. Science is the name of the game this year.To register call 570-645-3780.The program is sponsored by Dollar General Literacy Program and the Panther Valley Library.At 6 p.m. Thursday, July 10, there will be a Pop Pop Zing Summer Reading Special Program at the library, featuring super science and amazing art of Pennsylvania by Cathy Seachrist.The show is open to the public and sponsored by Dollar General Literacy Program and the library.At 6:30 Monday, July 21, it will be Fizz Boom Read, It's Magic.Master magician Steve Woyce will present a special magic show. He will be joined by Jules, a silly scientist puppet.Audience participation will help Steve and Jules bring the Fizz Boom magic to the audience.This is a free event and open to all. This program is also sponsored by Dollar General Literacy Program and the library.The library is open Mondays and Wednesday through Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until noon; and Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 to 9 p.m.Volunteers are always welcome.In addition to thousands of books to lend, the library offers adult health classes, computers to use and more.Used books are on sale during regular library.Call 570-645-3780 for information on hours, to volunteers and special programs.
