MoonMan visits WPCL

For a moment, the children thought they might have landed on the moon. But instead, MoonMan from the Da Vinci Science Center of Allentown, paid a visit to the Western Pocono Community Library. Accompanying him were, from right, Karen Knecht, director of Education and Exhibits; and left, Judy Belaires, director of Advancement and Community Relations. They brought with them fun crafts and experiments for the children. "Space: A Journey to Our Future" is the current exhibition at the center, which is located at 3145 Hamilton Blvd. in Allentown. Before MoonMan's appearance, WPCL's story teller, Sheila Leach and a

volunteer, conducted two experiments. One involved making a lava lamp with water, oil, salt and food dye. Another one showed how they could blow up a balloon by using an emptyplastic water bottle, a balloon, vinegar and baking soda. This year's summer readingprogram has been focusing on science.
