William 'Bud' Kresge remembered

When the late William (Bud) Kresge's funeral activities were held last week, long lines of friends and community members came to pay their respect and offer condolences to the family of the unofficial mayor of Brodheadsville.

At the funeral service, three pastors and the caretaker for both Kresge and his late wife spoke about Kresge's service and outreach to all, his love for his wife, Sparky, and his sense of humor.The Western Pocono Lions Club, joined by the Western Pocono Lioness Club, began the service with a Necrology service of remembrance. Kresge, the last charter member of the Lions Club, was remembered as friend and mentor and a man with a great sense of humor.The Rev. Ann Melot, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, presided over the general funeral service.The Rev. Annie Sharpton and Elder Smith of the Good Shepherd Church in Kunkletown, recalled how she and members of her congregation met Kresge professionally in a time of need and came to know Kresge as a man who embodied love.
