Lady Trojans roll past Pleasant Valley

PARKLAND The new Eastern Pennsylvania Conference can make for some long bus rides, but it figures that the ride back to Pleasant Valley from Parkland was a lot longer than the trip that took the Bears to their game Tuesday.

The Trojans got points from 12 different players in downing Pleasant Valley 46-12, dropping the Bears to 2-3 on the season.Parkland took advantage of early turnovers to build a 25-6 lead at half-time as the Bears turned the ball over 18 times in the first half alone and 32 times in the game, keeping their offense from getting into any consistent flow."We're young and have a lot of young girls. We start three freshmen, so turnovers are going to happen," explained coach Nadia Gauronsky. In fact, it was freshman starters Morgan Covart and Masani Francis, who each scored three points to lead Pleasant Valley. The opening 10 days of the schedule have not been kind to Pleasant Valley, handing them games against some of the tougher opponents in the EPC.The Lady Bears opened the season with a non-conference loss to Northwestern and then lost to Central Catholic before bouncing back for wins against Delaware Valley and a tough Northampton team prior to their meeting with Parkland."Being 2-3 at the beginning of the season, with the schedule that we have, I'm very proud of the girls. They've done a nice job."Parkland was led in scoring by Erin Bross and Sarah Stagaard, who each scored six points for the Trojans. Parkland is now 2-1 on the season.Gauronsky is pleased with the fact that she is already seeing her young players begin to come together as a team and believes that as the season goes on, her team will begin to show more progress and be able to avoid lopsided scores like the one that Parkland hung on them Tuesday night."I think we'll be fine," said Gauronsky. "We'll be just fine."PLEASANT VY.Covart 1-1-3-3, Miller 0-0-0-0, Francis 1-1-2-3, Tovino 0-0-0-0, Richardson 1-0-0-2, Keefer 0-0-0-0, Borden 0-1-2-1, Russell 0-1-1-1, Fields 1-0-0-2, Salmon 0-0-0-0.
