State police at Frackville are investigating the attempted robbery of a Schuylkill County man at gunpoint.

Troopers said the incident occurred about 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday along Chestnut Street at Dick Street in New Castle Township. Dana Dunkel, 29, of Saint Clair, was outside his residence warming up his vehicle when a black male approached him. The suspect grabbed Dunkel by the collar from behind and pointed a pistol demanding money. Dunkel told the man he had no money.The suspect then went through Dunkel's pockets. When no money was found, the suspect forced Dunkel into his residence. At this point Dunkel resisted and the suspect struck him in the head with the pistol. Dunkel then yelled for someone to call the police and was struck again with the pistol. The suspect then fled on foot south on Chestnut Street.The suspect is described as being in his 20s, about six feet tall, weighing between 160-180 pounds, and wearing a gray hoodie with black pants.Dunkel did not require medical attention.
