Stun gun used after man resists arrest

A Kunkletown man was tasered and jailed after resisting arrest in Lehighton.

State police at Lehighton said that at 4:03 p.m. Monday, April 14, troopers responded to 220 White St., Lehighton, for a report of a fight between two men. Upon arrival, Matthew Scott Haydt, 26, of 57 RD Kunkletown, had fled the scene.After further investigation, Haydt was taken into custody after a foot pursuit at Dunbar Bottling Company, 202 N. Main Lane, Lehighton. Haydt resisted arrest and a stun gun was used on him.He was arraigned before Judge Casmir Kosciolek. A $50,000 bail was set, and Haydt was transported to Carbon County Prison.Trooper Shaun Flynn was assisted by off-duty Fountain Hill officer Kevin Smith, trooper Robert Kirby of Lehighton, and multiple officers from Lehighton Police Department.
