Palmerton library announces events

The Palmerton Area Library has announced events for May 2014.

A new writers group is forming which is open to all published and aspiring authors of romance and mystery fiction.Meetings will be held at the library at 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. until noon. The first meeting will be May 6.The group will read and critique each other's works and share publishing and marketing ideas.The library is sponsoring a One Woman Art Show featuring the works of Edith Roeder. A reception with refreshments and music by Michael Toth (featured pianist with the Allentown Symphony) will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May. Paintings will remain on display through May 30.The Friends of the Library are sponsoring their annual Student Art Show from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 8 for students in grades 1-12.There is no entry fee for this show. Call the library at 610-826-3424 for more information about entering.Beach Bingo is back. Children in kindergarten through grade 4 are invited to come to the library from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday May 22 from to play bingo, have snacks and win prizes.Parents should call the library to register their children. This event is sponsored by the library Teen Group.Reading Escapades on Delaware Avenue is sponsoring a fundraiser for the Palmerton Area Library summer reading programs from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 6.Children of all ages will explore the earth sciences with experiments, crafts and games. There is a $5 fee to attend and all proceeds go to the library.To reserve a spot call 610-826-READ.
