Jim Thorpe Borough held a special meeting Wednesday evening to address the conflicts between the existing employee policy manual and union contract that went into effect Jan. 1.

"These policies don't accurately reflect the Teamsters agreement, nor the statements we have with our non-union employees," said borough President Barbara Ahner.The council passed a motion to rescind all current and previous policy manuals.The council has already begun the task of rewriting the manuals. The new manuals will not address some of the previous items, such as insurance and paid holidays, as these are the types of line items governed by the collective bargaining agreement or employee statements.The new manual should be ready for discussion by the June borough council meeting.
