Polk Elementary school

Polk Elementary School's beginning started in 1912 with the building of a frame two-room structure for high school students in Polk Township, Kresgeville. Its principal was John H. Kunkle.

• In 1922, three students graduated.• In 1926 it became a four-year high school with three teachers.• In 1928, Sebastian S. Kresge (founder of K-Mart) donated $25,000 to build a new brick consolidated school. Students commuted, furnishing their own transportation.• In 1931, seventh and eighth grades were added.• In 1956, largest graduating class with 33.• 1960 was the last graduating class from Polk High School with 26 graduates.• 1961 was the first year in the new consolidated Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville• In 1961 Polk became an elementary school for K-6th grade• In 2013 Polk houses K-4th grades with a total of 264 students.
