Testing Nesquehoning's new ladder truck

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Volunteer firefighters with the Nesquehoning Fire Department spent time putting their new KME ladder truck through the ropes during a training exercise held on a steep road in Nesquehoning. Ron Yuricheck, a KME Aerial Trainer, was also on scene providing detailed instructions on the well-equipped fire truck. John McArdle, 23-year fire chief, also spent time explaining the ins and outs of the new ladder truck. He added that the overall operation of the new truck is geared towards safety and improved capabilities. Some benefits of the new truck consist of full truck-body lower and raising, 103-foot ladder, creeper controls at both bottom and top of ladder, improved realiability, 2000 gallon per minute pump, 300 gallon water tank, larger firefighter cab space and much more. Firefighters raise the ladder 102 feet on a thin and steep side street along SR209 in Nesquehoning.
