Carl Hafer of Tamaqua, recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Born on Sept. 21, 1922, he was the son of the late Raymond and Esther Hafer of Lewistown Valley.

Carl and his wife Jean recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.Carl served in the Navy during World War II. He retired from Western Electric, Allentown after 39 years.The Hafers have four children: Ester Jean, Carl (who is deceased), Ted and Greg. They have 10 grandchildren (two of whom are deceased), and 11 great-grandchildren.A family get-together was held at his residence in honor of the occasion.
