Cyclist strikes pole, killed

A Lehigh County motorcyclist was killed in a crash near the intersection of SR873 and Mountain Road in Washington Township.

The victim was identified as Gerald Boyer, 69, of Salisbury Township.The crash was discovered at 1:30 p.m. Sunday after Boyer and his bike were found lying in the brush along the west berm. State police said the bike struck a utility pole.County Coroner Scott Grim said Boyer was wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:10 p.m. He died of severe head injuries, Grim said.Both roadways were closed for several hours.Another fatal crash occurred in the township several hours later. At about 7 p.m. a car struck a tree along Old Mill Road.The victim was identified as Samuel Frame, 32, of 5 View Drive, in Walnutport.Deputy Coroner Dan Buglio pronounced Frame dead at the scene.The cause of death was attributed to blunt force trauma.
