Women of Church History

The Hazleton/Lehighton Cluster of the Women of the ELCA are sponsoring a program entitled "Kate, Anna, and Me ... So Who Are You?" at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 500 Ore St., Bowmanstown, on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m.

It is a presentation of three women from different areas of church history. Katharina von Bora (Martin Luther's wife), Anna Marie Weiser Muhlenberg (Henry Melcor Muhlenberg's wife), and a modern day woman, who discuss changes and similarities in faith practices and lifestyles over 400-plus years.

The skit is written by Dr. Jean Godsall-Myers, college professor, instructor of German language and literature, and currently a member of Advent Lutheran Church, Old Goshenhoppen, Harleysville.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. All are invited for a free meal and fellowship.

Holy Trinity Lutheran

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will return to its fall worship schedule beginning Sunday, Sept. 18. Worship services will be at 8 and 10:45 a.m.

A special welcome back to Sunday School will begin with Breakfast Egg MacLutherans prepared by the Youth Groups beginning at 9 a.m. Entertainment will follow with magician Eddy Ray at 9:30 a.m.

The Adult Sunday School Class will continue with the Bad Girls of the Bible series this fall. Sunday, Sept. 18, they will begin reading and discussing the book "Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible." The class meets in the downstairs adult room at 9:30 a.m.

Camera Club

The Palmerton Camera Club will meet at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. The meeting will begin with a short how-to lesson, followed by a presentation by Mark Friedman, who will share some of his photographs and explain the cibachrome process that he uses. The meeting will conclude with light refreshments.

Knitting Club

On Monday, Sept. 19, from 6-8 p.m., the Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library. This is a free club for area residents interested in knitting, crocheting, and other crafts. New members are always welcome.

Palmerton teachers in-service day

Palmerton Area School District will hold an in-service day for teachers on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Students will not attend schools that day.
