Lehigh Township police report

The Lehigh Township Regional DUI Enforcement program released the following information concerning recent events.

On Aug. 12 a DUI checkpoint was conducted in Hanover Township on Schoenersville Road at Macada Drive. A total of 1,078 vehicles were contacted and informational materials were handed out. A total of 12 people were DUI tested with three arrested for DUI of alcohol and three for DUI of a controlled substance. Also, there were 12 traffic citations issued, one non-traffic citation for underage drinking and three warnings handed out.Participating with Lehigh Township police, who coordinated the operation, were police from Bangor, Pen Argyl, Stockerton, Upper Nazareth, Colonial Regional, Walnutport and Bushkill Township.On Sept. 1 a Cops in Shops program was conducted in Lower Nazareth Township, Bath and Hanover Township. The detail resulted in 11 ID checks and one drug arrest. The operation was coordinated by Lehigh Township and staffed by Colonial Regional and conducted over the Labor Day weekend.On Sept. 2 a DUI checkpoint was conducted in Moore Township at Moorestown Road and Nazareth Drive. A total of 580 vehicles were contacted with informational materials handed out. Nine people were DUI tested with three arrested for DUI of alcohol and one for DUI of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. There were also eight traffic citations issued, two non-traffic citations for underage drinking and disorderly conduct and three warnings handed out.Police departments participating included Lehigh, Bushkill and Moore townships, Colonial Regional, Walnutport and Upper Nazareth.On Sept 3 a roving DUI patrol was conducted in the following jurisdictions: Bangor, Stockertown, Colonial Regional, Walnutport, Upper Nazareth and Moore townships.The detail resulted in 44 vehicles contacted with materials distributed and no drivers found under the influence. Nine traffic citations were issued and 34 warnings handed out.
